This study aimed to investigate the potential antidiabetic nephropathy activity of the ethanol extract of Centella asiatica (pegagan) leaves in induced with streptozotocin (STZ) and nicotinamide. Rats were divided into different groups, including control, diabetic induced with STZ and nicotinamide, and diabetic treated with pegagan leaf extract at doses of 100, 200, and 300 mg/kg body weight. The effects were assessed by measuring kidney injury markers, including Kidney Injury Molecule-1 (KIM- 1), Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin (NGAL), and albumin levels. The results revealed that the ethanol extract of pegagan leaves, particularly at a dose of 300 mg/kg body weight, exhibited significant activity in reducing KIM-1, NGAL, and albumin levels compared to lower doses and the untreated diabetic group. These findings suggest that the ethanol extract of Centella asiatica leaves possesses potential nephroprotective effects against diabetic nephropathy, highlighting its therapeutic relevance in managing diabetic kidney damage. Further research is warranted to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and validate these findings in human subjects.</p>
