Abstract:Background: Traditionally, the people in Anik Hamlet usually use the Bauhinia sp. leaves as anthelimintic. Objective: The research was conducted to observe the anthelmintic activity of the ethanol extract of cawat anuman (Bauhinia sp.) leaves against Ascaridia galli by in vitro procedure. Methods: Group I was treated with NaCl 0.9% as the negative control, also group II and III were treated with cawat anuman leaves ethanol extract at dose of 25 mg/ml and 50 mg/ ml respectively, and group IV was treated with mebendazole at dose 5 mg/ml as the positive control. Results: Compared to the negative control, the ethanol extract of cawat anuman leaves has activity as an anthelmintic (p<0.05), moreover the potency of leaves extract at dose 50 mg/ml as anthelmintic against Ascaridia galli as strong as mebendazole at dose 5 mg/ml (p>0.05). Conclusion: It concluded that the ethanol extract of cawat anuman leaves at dose 50 mg/ml has anthelmintic potency as strong as mebendazole 5 mg/ml.
